I had a seven digit ICQ number. Either my account got hacked or my password suddenly refused to work. Regardless, I lost all my conversations and contact info forever. I never used ICQ again.

Hehe, I still got my 6-digit number and it's a fairly low number 327940). I use it with Trillian today because some friends still use ICQ, but unfortunately 99% of all the spam I get comes from russian ICQ spambots. Too bad for a messenger network that was years ahead of MSN...

Of course most of russia uses it. They stole all of our ID's my ID was stolen by some russion kid two years ago. AOL told me to just make a new ID and tough luck. my ID was 1630420. oh well the service sucked anyways. no security what so ever.

actually in eastern Europe it is the most popular one. i spent 6 month in Czech republic and had to install and create an account to keep in touch with the people i met there
