I´m getting tired of the Post-PC concept like is going to happen in the next 5 years or even less!! People really have to understand that PC will stay around for a looooong time or... forever!!!

As far as I'm concern the "post PC era" will never begin, as ANY and ALL PC (as on "Personal Computers") that I built and will always built myself *cough* for that Personal Touch *cough* will always be present in MY life.

Same way that NO icrap will ever find its way into MY personal space.

yes yes i do indeed see the end of the pc, in 2008 we hit 1 BILLION pcs with an expected 2 Billion in 2014 due to emerging markets. I think we should all now take these useless products that you can do nothing with and throw them all away.

What is it with the media and apple?
On what device do the media think the programmers at apple are using to CODE the F****** products that the media w**k all over?
On what device are the media going to use to write their sycophantic articles, an iPhone, an iPad? I'd like to watch them write a 1000 words on one of those devices, that or share sensitive article data on the iCloud, go on.

Hell do these idiots even know what PC stands for? just because the device they use runs its software on some server somewhere and stores their s**t on some other server doesn't mean it's not PERSONAL or doing any COMPUTING.

I'm still desperate to know where apple plans to find people educated and knowledgeable enough to write stuff for the devices/ideas they throw at us. iCoding, iChipDesign idiocracy here we come

The lumbering feature creep of iTunes was beyond ridiculous. Thankfully, we won't need that crappy desktop program much longer to get the most out of your iOS device.

Instead, now we'll use the crappy iCloud! :D

Well, at least he recognised that iTunes is crappy. :)

Additional iCloud storage upgrades are available to purchase starting at $20 a year for 10GB, $40 a year for 20GB and $100 a year for 50GB.

Portable USB 3.0 1TB WD HDD: $100. Double the price, 20 times the capacity. Why would I back up something on the "cloud" if hard drives and USB sticks are cheap as dirt?!

+1, that movie reflects the average consumer's mind VERY precisely.

Sorry, mis-read. SAME price, 20 times the capacity (as opposed to $100 50 GB iCloudOfCrap)

I wonder, how long till first cloud BS gets hacked and the data gets - no, not stolen, but infected/erased/corrupted? Just so that the "average (dumbass) user" stops going for the hype and uses his brain for once?

Here's a simple analogy: would you rather store your clothes in your cupboard or in your neighbour's house? :D And before somebody throws in an analogy of storing money (analogy to data) in the bank (analogy to cloud), let me remind you: no one is stealing your pr0n if you keep it in bulk at home.

Update without having to connect to a computer? Great! S now they can erase your jailbreak more easily.

Still on a jailbroken 3GS that can tether without paying ATT extortion money. Was good at the time, but I'll be upgrading to Nexus Prime or Galaxy S2 in the next month or so.

Has anyone noticed how many iPads are selling? If you say that millions of people are stupid for buying iPads and that only u are the only smart one I would bet that your probably not any older than 19. Because that's how kids act they think they know everything and everyone else is dumb. The iPad is pretty freakin awesome. In fact I'm using it right now too leave this post.

They are implying that because you no longer need a PC to sync music or do updates to your iPhone that you won't need a PC again.

OK

So what kind of iDiot buys a PC solely for syncing their smartphone?

The post-PC era will only happen when the smartphone is a replacement for:-

Photo editing, and not just cropping borders
Video editing
Playing games, real games, not crappy Farmville
Anything that involves optical drives, read, rip, copy
Anything that involves hard drives or flash drives
Archiving and backup, 3G speed and 5Gb space is pointless when you have 5Tb of video
Home Theatre, when the smartphone can run XBMC and beam it to my TV, maybe
Programming, because fart-apps aren't going to write themselves
Porn, do you trust Apple to keep safe your stash of dwarf-pregnant-horse fap material?

It seems the idea of what the cloud is has become distorted, it was supposed to be distributed processing so that huge server farms could wield super-computer power to do tasks and just beam you the results via the internet, now it seems it has orphed into nothin more than online storage? Hasn't every ISP since the mid 90's offered online storage as part of your package?
