Congratulations apple, you have successfully copied Android 2.2, added integrated twitter, stuck an apple on it, and called it iOS5.

I am sure all of the AT&T customers on 200MB plans just love hearing "And now you can activate, sync. and update over 3G!" Yeah its like magic how these things suck the money out of you.

AT&T's thinking, "Thanks for the 500 million dollars Apple."

[citation][nom]infernocy[/nom]more crap from apple , but the horde of zombies will still be there[/citation]

Two thumbs up for being a moron :)

[citation][nom]asdf634[/nom]This is a god send!!! All hail to Steve & Co. for giving us the feature enjoyed by android all along, on the most advanced mobile os that is the ios which didn't even have copy/paste and multi-tasking until the revolutionary evolution.[/citation]

yes the Android slideshow experience with 1GB of RAM min requirements. Lol you guys are a freakin joke. Google is sweating their ass of trying to get close to what the iOS is. If you know anything about programing, you'll know how much Google needs to catchup in order to come close to the iOS's performance.
Now keep trolling .... aparently you get some kind of self gratification from it :)

[citation][nom]robochump[/nom]Wow iHaters flocking to another Apple article...shocking!!! lol Good to see iOS and Droid feeding off each other to make better product for the consumers. Win 7 mobile is not a bad OS but too little too late and I expect the same for Windows 8 tablet. Also people tend to forget what battery hogs flash is and there are reasons Apple is trying to stay away from it until Adobe seriously optimizes Flash![/citation]
Honestly... I agree. All of the smartphone OSs feeding off of each other is a good way to help make the products better for the consumers. So not sure why there is so much Apple bashing on this website. If you don't like it just don't buy it, simple, no need to complain. Sometimes I feel like people takes the time to bash Apple to get the most thumbs up they can as virtual green thumbs up gives them some self-satisfaction.

Also agree about Flash and battery life. I actually have an Android instead of an iPhone, but I have disabled Flash on my phone and I found I get an extra one to two hours of battery life out of my phone. I first I thought I would miss Flash, but now I can honestly say I do NOT miss Flash at all. So I completely agree with Apple's choice not to include Flash on the iPhone.
BUT, having said that, not sure if I agree about not including Flash on the iPad. Seems like the iPad should at least have Flash. But then again I have absolutely zero use for a tablet, Windows, Mac or otherwise, so I could care less.

This is all good news to me. I love the iTunes match streaming service - at roughly $2/month it quite affordable. Off topic - Snow Leopard and Lion (Ultimate Edition) updates together cost $60.00 - Windows Vista and Windows 7 (Ultimate Edition) updates together cost $468.00. Macs are more money up front, but the total cost of ownership is roughly the same, that's quite interesting.

So funny that an article about Apple product upgrades attract more haters and Android fans than Apple fans. Even funnier to see so many people who don't care about Apple take the time to read an Apple article and waste even more time to comment on it.

You know Apple has done something right with these updates since there are so many pissed off people whining about it.

No one is I hating, I have both iPad and iPhone, and they were innovative for making touch easy, but overall they suck in terms of features, I can't wait to have a proper os on a tablet thank you windows 8, real multitasking, java, flash a real web experience, if I want to drain my battery in 1 hr it shouldn't be up to apple it's my time, like I said come 2012 I'm throwing this thing on eBay.

well you tell me " why are you trolling?" "why are you hating?" "If you dont like the product dont buy it then!"

well i gotta troll hard cuz if i find that the product sucks hard then im not buying the product. you see when you own an iphone u cant do what ever you want is like you are limited some how :\ they telling what you should have in your phone intead of what you want on your phone :\

i will stick with android for now because all the features iphones has i already have it on my android and well inproved thx and yes i can do what ever i want on my phone and have what ever i want too :)

[citation][nom]robochump[/nom]Also people tend to forget what battery hogs flash is and there are reasons Apple is trying to stay away from it until Adobe seriously optimizes Flash![/citation]
that may be true but its not close to the reason that it is not included in iOS, it may be the reason apple give out becuase it sounds nicer than the real answer
the main reason is all the crappy apps you can get on iOS are just crappy apps that for the normal person would be in flash and you would go to a web site and use them for free. but then how is apple going to make money out of that?

[citation][nom]acadia11[/nom]Guess what the minute windows 8 comes out, I'm burning my ipad 2, and getting a real tablet that has java and flash and the worlds biggest largest software platform. The iphone was cool, after I got the ipad 2, I learned iOS simply sucks a$$$$$ for any real type of web experience , I'm not even talking for power usage. I honestly can't wait to throw this thing on ebay for the next sucker.PS my blackberry torch puts my iphone to shame. What a sham. This is a rant I get more frustrated my iPad Waste of Money every time I go to a site I can't view because Steve Jobs thinks his ***k is so large, that he can rule everything. The same reason why apple got it's a$$$$$ kicked by the PC in the 80's will be the same reason why I'm never buying another IPAD , and now that MS has turned it's attention to doing it the right way and giving me the openess I'm accustomed, I'm mean seriously, java and flash you don't like as technologies so what, it's ubiquitous, it's like saying I don't like high ways so everyone should fly instead, bottom line highwas get the job done and have a place.[/citation]

Just send your iPad 2 my direction, I'll gladly take it.

I think we need to start a fight club, for both the iHaters and Android Haters. I think it would be productive to get all this anger out and realize the actual benefit of both OS(s) coexisting, rather than trying to phase each other out. It's all about competition. Sure the iPhone revolutionized the smartphone industry initially and now the flood of android devices made by several manufactures have made one company's (Apple) devices obsolete (depending what you're focusing on). I think people expect devices to do more than what they were initially designed to do. If Apple comes up with new tech and Android builds upon it no one notices. When Android comes up with new tech, people get angry and expect an iPhone to do the same, which is unrealistic.

I have an iPhone 3GS, do I want and iPhone 4, no. I think that generation is junk and not worth using my 2-yr contract on. Do I want Android? No, I had a 14 day trial with Android (as well as a friend's phone) and the Marketplace is full of dull & junk apps. They are not optimized to conserve battery or system resources. My brother has a Evo 4G, it has sweet hardware and software but there's again the Marketplace (Get your underutilized apps here!). Sure an iPhone is behind hardware wise, but it's getting the most out of the hardware with the great AppStore apps..

Like the South Park: Humancentipad episode, "You didn't read the terms and conditions?"

If I were to drop $400+ on a device I would be at an Apple Store or Android carrier demoing out the device to justify my purchase..

"Magazine and newspaper publishers and readers have fallen in love with the iPad. . . "

Last I heard, Apple closed down any side-sales of magazines and newspapers, forcing the publishers to 'loose' 30% to the App Store - which means they will either pass that cost on to the consumer or choose not to make this product.

Also, knowing that my magazine 'app' could be subject to removal at the whim of a corporation who has already demonstrated fickle enforcement of its policies does not put my mind at ease - could you imagine if everyone got their news through such a device and the government coerced the company to 'undo' all the copies (or any news source featuring negative views on Apple products suddenly got de-listed, much like certain posts frequently disappear from Apple's forums)?

Coming to android to me was a godsend. I've always loved my iphone, but android got to a point that iphone just sucked compared to it. IOS hasn't changed much, and some of its points were just way too simple compared to how android handled them. Every single one of these features are available in one way or another on android. IOS is playing the catchup game now, but android definitely holds the aces. I have yet to find one downside to android that iOS didn't. Everyone that says iOS is way more stable needs to get a life, my Iphone 4 crashed and didn't work more then my atrix. You can't even compare the two anymore. Android has become the choice for advanced users, and the Iphone has finally hit the spot it should always have been in, a simple, smartphone for people just getting into the smartphone market. Its a good starting smartphone, thats it.

Iphone is a good phone for beginners but,if you need something advance android is your best choice, period.

I'll gladly sell it to you at the rock bottom prices that apple sold it to me. The bottom line is I'm not going with iOS or Android, what I learned from my iPad 2 and my iphone 3gs, is that iOS is great for a cell phone, and it's garbage for a tablet. The bottom line is i only occassionly browse on my iphone to get quick information, where as my tablet, I actually browse the same sites I would with my desktop or laptop. Because of the larger screen size there is simply more I want to do with the tablet, I'm not trying to run cad here of course, but you give me 10 inch's practically of screen space, and inherently I might want to do some quick doc edition, pop open that excel, and you know I might to put both documents side by side.

The short of it, iOS sucks for tablets, the lack of flash and java while on the phone no biggie sucks for a tablet. Now, I'm not being a fanboy I couldn't wait to get the ipad 2, now, after having it, aside from being a glorified e-reader for me and playing angry birds, was the worst $700 i've ever spent. Screw android and iOS, the minute windows 8 hits a tablet I'm there.

Like I said the same reason ultimately apple got it's .... handed to them by the PC, is the same reason, MS will do them in again, they are trying to hard to tell people how they should be using the product they just paid $700 for, and they don't want to let 3rd parties fix the inherent problems in the system. windows 8, real multitasking (not just allowing you to listen to music, while browse the net) meaning put app A side by side to app B, java, flash, and dealing with the web the way it's 4 billion sites have been developed as opposed to how you think they should have developed, all of this is enough for me to not buy another ipad, if apple fixes it , or when the roughly 4 billion websites out there turn to HTML 5 (facetious I'm being), then maybe I'll shell out the cash again.

But, you are right, I won't buy it, and sure it works for some, but not for me, and not at that price actually not at any price, it's not worth it, because, there is basic .... I should be able to do that I can't.

An update to 7 ultimate from vista costs $468.00? Funny because I can find an update for $184.00 and the full version for $275.

Sometimes I wonder whether Tomshardware's entire readership is comprised of 14 year old Android fanboys, permanently lurking in the shadows waiting for an Apple article to invade their sacred space. A lot of you people should be ashamed to even consider yourselves tech enthusiasts.

Find an operating system you enjoy using and just STFU.

I used to be a fanboy over all kinds of pointless crap when I was a kid... AMD... ATI (when it existed), Windows XP. Then one day I suddenly grew up, grew public hair and realized that it doesn't serve any purpose at all other than to put egg on my face when my beloved company inevitably slips below the competition, as happens to ALL companies. It is utterly POINTLESS and extremely immature.

By all means, hate on Apple - I don't particularly like their business model either, but at least have some kind of intelligent reason to hate their stuff instead of posting purile "wah wah wah, more crapple products" nonsense.

[citation][nom]WhySoBluePandaBear[/nom]They insist on controlling every aspect, from hardware to software, with no room to debate with Emperor Steve Jobs.[/citation]
An ecosystem that works very well for the majority of consumers. It might surprise you to learn that the vast majority of consumers just don't care, so long as the device is good to use.

[citation]They typically use older technology, but still keep the premium price tag. Which also means whatever specs they use, you could find a Windows machine with the same specs, that is HUNDREDS of dollars cheaper.[/citation]
See above. The majority of consumers are NOT in the market for the fastest hardware. Bleeding edge hardware is an enthusiast segment of the market - one which just isn't profitable otherwise.

[citation]They start a marketing fad where their products are deemed "cool" among the young and impressionable[/citation],
Welcome to the world of brand marketing. Xbox Live, to name one example, doesn't fall far short of this ideology either. Apple cater to a market that buy devices for completely different reasons than somebody would buy a PC, or an Android handset.

[citation]impressionable idiots as fans, that only follow because everything is so pathetically simple, you couldn't possibly not understand[/citation].
Again, a considerably profitable market - given that 99% of people wanting to go out and buy a computer are *not* technologically literate.

[citation]Have you seriously seen the people who go into the Apple store? I could tell them that an iMac is capable of taking them to the moon and back, and they'd probably believe me[/citation].
Now you're just being plain prejudiced.

[citation]"Macs don't get viruses".....here's what they leave out; You don't get a virus, because you're nothing. A nobody. Not even a slice of the entire pie, making you a worthless target to those whom seek to destroy as many as they can with one sweep. [/citation]
Something we agree on, at least.
