[citation][nom]christarp[/nom]...Probably because he doesn't have the right to distribute google's maps..[/citation]
I was under the impression that Google allowed the use of it's API to everyone freely as long they complied with the terms of service. So that's an excuse

I'd never buy a computer or other device from a company that tells me what I can, and can not install on MY computer.

I think Apple shot itself in the foot with their GPS the more I keep hearing about it. They should have released it while still under the google contract and used the information they gathered with it being in wide use to get it better while still allowing a good alternative before banishing something that worked.

You just don't get rid of something that works for an untested product, it's freaking stupid to do so.

this is just apple being apple. we are at war with google. so we will refuse to use their services on our devices, even our own map system sucks.

Good luck with that.

Lenin was actually the good communist,
If Apple was a man, he would be Hitler.....or Vlad Dracule.....yea, the later seems more fitting

im actually hoping to get some time to study how close apple is to Hitler they already got the ubermensch down its people ho own apple products they lock out people from the outside from disturbing the society they create by not letting eny thing but there own stuff connect. they attack remotely close product by calling it protecting there investments. but its alright they eventually put 2 colors on the products, they cant be to evil can they? but seriously i believe they if they could they would go for it all the way.

Google should flat out end support for Apple devices- detect the user agent and time out.

I mean that for all its services- calendar, gmail, youtube, docs/drive included. Karma's a bitch.

Why are people defending Google? The company that stated "Don't Be Evil" and then did and does plenty of morally dubious things...

Some readers really have muddled priorities.

I imagine Apple would like Maps app to develop into a pre-eminent service. Any distraction away from that will delay and dilute their objective. There may also be licensing issues.

Google Maps got off to an iffy start and only made progress by robbing people of their data.

If Microsoft was fined loads for packaging IE and Media Player with Windows, despite leaving you the option to use alternatives, why wouldn't Apple be fined in the same way or more?

Good communist? No such thing. But politics aside, read about Lenin in the years leading up to his death and before the revolution. You will see a very high body count as people like Lenin fought inside the party for control (and within the various other socialist parties before the Soviet faction dominated). His hands were as bloody as anyone else in that phase. Now sure compared to Stalin, Lenin was the "good" communist. But that's like saying Guderian was the Good Nazi.

As for Apple, the company hasn't gotten a dime from me since the Apple IIE and never will again.
