Apple has been highly profitable - these bonuses aren't too big compared to the dough the company has been raking in, and upper management has a lot to do with the decisions the company has made in order to bring these profits in.

This is not a case of Airline executives granting themselves huge bonuses during a financial crisis in the wake of their employees taking a voluntary pay cut, who did so to attempt to help the company (companies?) survive.

I might not like Apple too much, but this isn't a big deal.

[citation][nom]beayn[/nom]Meanwhile, the people who make Apple products live in shitty conditions with minimal pay.[/citation]
Soon they'll all be robots that kill themselves so it'll be okay soon.

[citation][nom]three0duster[/nom]It all comes down to taxes here folks. Income is taxed at roughly 25%, more if you are rich. Stocks, no matter the amount is only 15%. Its called tax evasion, or corporate loopholes. Either way, its the American way.[/citation]
It's actually less. It's 15% of difference in value from moment he got them and moment when he sells them, if he sells them. He/she pays capital gain tax but not personal income for stock options.

[citation][nom]g-unit1111[/nom]Exactly - I bet the Apple store employees get jack. Corporate greed... it's the American way![/citation]
I'm pretty sure ACTUAL apple employees are well compensated. Store front employees are worthless as they don't bring any real skill set. If you look at this objectively, storefront employees don't require a college education, unlike people that work at corporate (yes, these include the engineers, marketers, lawyers, etc etc). As a result, they can take any eager high school or college kid off the block, throw em in a 30 hr training program in front of a computer and voila, you now have your $10/hr employee that can be replaced instantly.

If you look at the books of any major corporation, all corporate employees get performance bonuses. I have no idea where you guys are getting the idea that the only people getting compensation are top level execs. The reason why corporate execs are the ones in these articles is 'cause no one really cares that an engineer was given $60k in performance bonus and $100k in stock options (these aren't even uncommon numbers in a mid-level employee in a successful company).

Also, you people seem to have no idea of how much of America's crap is actually produced overseas in craptacular working conditions with minimal pay....oh wait it's basically every business. Why? 'cause almost every business would be bankrupt if you hired Americans. Either that or the price of goods would sky rocket, and then everyone would be complaining about who they can't afford anything...just look at your clothing, if it isn't made in china, chances are it cost quite a bit.

Tens of millions...delicious. Good job to the execs.

This is reward for doing their job. Perhaps if the Occupy movement people actually tried to work, then they'll have the chance to be big too.

[citation][nom]behere[/nom]A lot of them are used for things like mathematical modelling of climate change, objects in space moving around another etc. thanks.[/citation]
