If you're talking about Donald Trump, then I don't think he was successful because Sir Alan Sugar was doing it first in UK Apprentice (which came first), and Vince McMahon has also been doing it for 10 years as part of his on-screen character in WWE.

Oh, and I don't get why all the hate for this trademark thing - it's a marketing slogan and they have every right to trademark it, especially as Apple come under a lot of fire from pretty much every semi-sensible person in the world, so NOT trademarking it would lead to a number of derogatory and parody derivatives.

Hell, just look at the variations you guys have put here already.

I'm waiting for Google to trademark "and so does Android".

Tom's should run a competition to find the best alternative to "There's an app for that." Ought to be a hoot seeing what people can come up with because then every tech site known to man will run a piece on it and totally rub Steve's face in it. Maybe "There'll be a prize for that..!!"

I agree, it's a slogan. I don't have a problem with it being trademarked. They invented a phrase, and it's not something anyone would ever say in normal conversation. It's not the same as "You're fired," which is extremely common. And Trump did NOT trademark "You're fired." He attempted to and he failed.

I could swear that the saying actually didn't originate from Apple itself sure they began to use it but I could swear I heard it from people before the advertisements ever did. I could be remembering a bit wrong however. Either way I guess it doesn't matter as your not required to be the inventor of the saying.

Anyways is there a app for Flash Apple? No? Way to not live up to
your newly trademarked slogan.
