Yesterday the developer of Hottest Girls took full responsibility for its removal from the App Store. Now Apple says the application was removed from the App Store for violating the terms of the iPhone Developer Program.

Google.com. I'm quite certain the iPhone has a full featured browser and can view images. Why anyone would find the need to look at porn on their phone in the first place is beyond me but why they would pay for something that is so easily accessible free is mind bottling.

Some people are mixing things that shouldn't be mixed and looking at the matter from the wrong perspective.

Putting Steve Jobs and China in the same bandwagon isn't really a fair comparison. China severly hinders their citizen's rights in a much bigger scale. You can just opt to just not buy an iPhone, period. On the other hand some chinese might not have enough money to go to another country and establish themselves, and have to live with that opressive regime for years, if not their entire life.

Now to the point: Apple has all the right not to want porn in their store. On the other hand you can upload any porn movie/clip you want to your iPhone. If the format is supported, it will play.

Now the problem is, if you want to install an application with porn content you can't, because every application must come from the app store. This IS the problem. I can install whatever program I want on my symbian based N95, whether it comes from Nokia or from a third party site. If it's compatible, it works, just like a windows program.

Apple has been able to get away with this because the iPhone doesn't have a monopoly in the mobile phone market. It hinders your choice, but you can always break the software to make it work, or simply stop buying iPhones to make them learn their lesson.

If all chinese one day decided to stop eating until there was a democracy, or if the women refused to have sex with their husbands, I bet the 'People's Republic' of China would soon change it's name to something less cynical.

I don't blame Apple. They're just protecting themselves from lawsuit and protecting their image. You don't see Nintendo or XBox or Playstation with porn content. Games need to get officially licensed by them, so stop crying. Who would want to use an iPhone for porn anyways?

In all honesty, the ipod/iphone market is mostly for the teenagers as the more mature market tends to opt for more "business-like" phones and players so, yeah, its good that they took that off.

Maybe it is me but I would not say this app is delivering PORN but rather just adult art.

Personally this is how I would define them:

Art - Pictures of naked individual(s) in a non suggestive way. Anything that would suggest they were being sexual in nature would not fall under this. Example: 1 persons hand(s), face or privates near their own or another's person's hand(s), face or privates or implications any is headed there.

PORN: Pictures of penetration (real or suggested) or explicit actions (touching or implying touching by self or others privates) would fall under this.

Either way, I do not believe it is Apple that should be determining what is and isn't acceptable any more than it is HP's job to determine what I should and should not do with my computer.

Somehow and I am not sure how, we as consumers have allowed Apple to control stuff that we would never let another company control. I am assuming this goes along with them being such a proprietary company in all their products (a monopoly on their concepts). This is truly the problem and what needs to change.

Who needs an app for porn on their iPhone anyway? If you want porn on your iPhone just convert some videos or transfer over some jpegs from your PC. I agree with Apples decision and believe the backlash for not removing this app would be more harmful than the backlash for keeping it, not to mention it would be opening Pandora's box. Personally I think America should lighten up with our views on nudity, and tighten down of our views of violence in the media, but thats another story. For the time being we are a Judeo-Christian society with morals passed down from the Victorian era and thats not going away anytime soon, so for now Apple made the right decision, although in Europe i don't think anyone would give a shit if they kep this app. BTW, did you ever notic how all European pornos have anal, but not all the American ones. There, I think I proved my point.
