Are ASUS Laptops any good?

This computer is too cheap for what you get. For instance, an i7 quadcore is $618.99. A Nvidia 960m runs for $219.99. That's $838.98, that's just two of the components to this computer. I had it only a week and love it.

was happy with mine, until the keyboard stopped working just after the warranty finished, can't replace the keyboard because its glued to the top... i'm never buying anything asus again

I've had a Asus notebook for a couple years A3J if I remember right (my partner stole it from me :lol: ). It's run flawlessly, so I haven't had to try out the warranty. Places like newegg will let you return it if it shows up doa. But tech support is basically a forum, and answers aren't quick in coming. Essentially, I buy another one, but I also am real comfortable trouble shooting my own rigs.

Another one to keep in mind is that it seems Asus is trying real hard to break into and maintain a strong presence in the notebook market... so my experiences a year ago may not even be issues anymore (support may be a bit more robust). I trust Asus more than say HP, but less than Dell.

They are a good value, come in an attractive package (like remotes, decent carry bag, etc.), but aren't the top performers. I do like them though and would still recommend them.

Dell really sucks my brothers laptop messed up before he got any good use out of it and he bought it brand new. They nothing to help him replace his hard drive and even after geek squad helped him he still had it replaced again and currently has to do it again.

I've had great luck with Dell support.

NEVER get an Asus. You will regret deeply. I got an Ultra Slim Notebook in 2013 and send to the service centre because the harddisk crashed. The counter lady told me it will cost me S$85 to reformat the harddisk and I have to pay out-front a $60. She told me that this amount will be refunded if the machine could not be repaired.
Today (23 Aug 16) I received a call and was given a quote of S$900 for a repair. Silly me if I agreed to it because the counter lady told me that the set is already obsolete. I rejected the repair and was told that the $60 that I had paid out-front is a fee they charged and non-refundable.
My set have numerous problems. Always dump memory (blue screen) and also static current that make the mouse jumps all over the screen.

As someone who repairs laptops for a living I cam tell you that they are very cheaply made nowadays. The hinges crack and break, the mouse buttons stop working and they plastics are the cleapest plastics used in any laptop. Steer clear of Asus for now unless you buy one of their gaming ones, those are made well.

I vouched to that "hinges crack" issues. When I was at the service centre, I saw two customers sending their sets with broken hinges.
NEVER GET AN ASSUS.
