I know the GB is limited by lack of color and only four shades of b/w,
but are there any ways in which the Game boy's specs surpass the NES?

Thanks!

I think NES was a bit more superior than the B&W GB. Both could play
2 players and 4 players with optional 4 players adapter. Both were
prone to scrambled screen and often won't play game at all.

NES could do color.

GB cart is a lot smaller than NES cart. A LOT smaller.

Physically, yes, but in terms of data size, not really. Lots of GB
carts are in the 1mbit-2mbit range, just like a lot of NES games.
