Are you VR ready?

Occulus Rift is probably less than a year away, these are the requirements as it stands now.

NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
8GB+ RAM
Is now the time to start upgrading to this or better, or should I wait and see if the specs drop due to optimization? Just so I don't over spend.

MSI GTX 970 golden edition 4 gig, i7 2600, 12 gig ram.
It's the old i7 I'm iffy about.

The 4590 really isn't all that much better than what you have. Wait till at least skylake.
