ARWL by keyword is recording reruns

Perhaps this is just a matter of the guide data not agreeing
with the details in the program "Information" screen...

I have a ARWL with a particular keyword and in the recording
options I specified that only first runs should be recorded.
However, every airing of the qualifying shows get recorded
even though the subsequent airings say "Rerun" right in the
program description. This results in my getting 3 or 4 copies
of the same program every week.

Is due to the fact that, in the guide data, there is a flag
that indicates whether a program is a rerun or not and that
the program description is not examined? So these programs
show "rerun" in the description, but their guide data
erroneously still indicates they are first-run? Or (not-likely)
are ARWLs by keyword erroneously recording the reruns?

The "Rerun" displayed in the guide data is not used at all by TiVo in
determinining whether a show is first-run or not. This is good, because
some shows have it set even though it is a first-run.

The "First Run Only" picking on TiVo goes something like this:

IF (guide data is generic)
OR (Original Air Date is not more than 7 days before episode air date)
THEN (treat as first run episode)

That explains it. These shows are ones that are aired
three or four times during the week - the first one is
the original one and the others are reruns. But since they
are within the 7 day window, they get recorded anyway.

Just to be clear, the 7 days has some variation, too. First, nobody really
knows the exact day count...some people claim 7 and some claim 10.

Second, you can get more than a 7-day window if the OAD is really screwed
up. As an example, if the OAD claims to be July 1, 2005, but the show is on
tomorrow (June 9, 2005), the logic says "first run", because the air date
of the show is less than 7 days after the OAD in the guide data. The actual
air date so much less that it is *before* the claimed OAD, but that's not
something that TiVo checks.

Wasn't that exactly the case with an episode of Stargate SG-1 last year?
They had put in the guide data the OAD for the UK airing and thus a lot of
people didn't get it recorded via their SP, but rather those who knew the
issue in advance (either by checking their ToDo list or the SP alert forum
at Tivocommunity.com) were able to get the episode.

I just can't remember if the wrong OAD was in the past or future (compared
to the "then" current date).
