Hello!

I was wondering what the best method would be for using a external Graphics card with my laptop if possible.

It has a i5 6200u and 8gb ddr4 ram, and a 940mx with 2 gb ram vram.

im not sure how many options the laptop has for connectivity.. i know it has a sd card reader, usb-c and HDMI..

So my guess is since it also has a SSD. that maybe it could have a mini-pcie port or nvme inside that i dont know of..

also, how do i know if it will even work with this model? will it be recognized? is there a database over tested laptops somewhere?

i have Sapphire RX 580 8gb that i would like to couple with this laptop the best way possible.

You will need to use an external mini PCIe adapter with the laptop, along with a power supply and monitor to run the card. If you don't have a free mini PCIe slot in the laptop you would need to remove the WiFi card. Those adapters also don't work in all cases, and limit the PCIe speed to 1x which is likely to bottle neck the RSX 580. I would sell your laptop and the video card and get a laptop with an nVidia 1060 card in it for gaming.
