Asus BOOTREC results

I have an Asus laptop that froze during a repair loop. I followed the instructions from this site to do the BOOTREC followed by check disc. It says "File record segment 289676 is unreadable" says this through segment 286791. What does this mean?

Your hard drive may be going.

Try running CHKDSK /R and see if it recovers anything.

If not, or if it stops at a certain % and won't go farther, then backup what you can and try another program to repair the drive.

Should this not work, you should consider a new hard drive.

Thank you! That's seems to be the general consensus. It is currently doing the check disk... many file segments unreadable

Thanks. I think you are right. Finally reached stage 2 of the check disk and it says "failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50" now it's just waiting for another command

You could try running another disk checking program, there are many out there, but it sounds like your disk is going.
