Hey guys. I'm looking for a laptop that is powerful enough to run engineering softwares like Solidworks, Ansys etc. I'll also use it for gaming. I was interested in the macbook pro 13 inch retina display. But later i got to know that it struggles to run designing softwares and i had to go for the 15 inch one, which is out of my budget. So I ended up with these two. I am more leaned towards the ASUS as I have heard about its build quality. But, I'll be carrying the laptop to my college every now and then and the asus is around 6 pounds! Whereas the lenovo is only 5.2 pounds. Im getting the lenovo at a discounted price of 950$, and ASUS at 1200$. So im now getting intersted in Lenovo too. Is it good? Is the build quality good? Is the lenovo worth it? Thanks!

The lenovo has a slight edge in the gpu department as it comes with a gtx 860m rather than a 850m. Also the lenovo has a better screen than the asus. If the laptop is mainly used for engineering then the lenovo wins. But if gaming is a priority then the asus as they have better cooling.

Lenovo comes with better screen?:??: I have heard that lenovo y50 has really bad screen where as the asus has an ips display (I'm not talking about Lenovo Y50 4k display)

Sorry about that, I was talking about the 4k one. Me personally, I always go with asus as they are known for their gaming laptops. But then lenovo are also known for their workstation range so I don't know how good they are. Also you could always connect an external display in the collage if there are any if the screen is very bad to get around the problem of a bad screen.
