Asus "Invalid bios" on easyflash

Trying to reflash the bios on my ASUS VivoBook S400CA laptop, the easyflash screen has a padlock in the top right and when I try to open the new bios file on my USB drive, easyflash rejects it with a "invalid bios, return to easyflash" message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Bios file maybe corrupted, download again and retry (with USB formatted FAT32 and NTFS), if not recognized roll back to older version of Bios (previous to the one installed on your laptop) and pursue the downgrade process correctly if allowed, then upgrade again to your present Bios and finally upgrade to the newer bios (you could try skipping going back to present bios)

No good - I've already tried both fat32 and ntfs and when just trying the older Bios's, easyflash says that the bios is too old

Did you try resetting your Bios to default settings before the flash ? different USB port, different USB stick ?

Yep, two different usb sticks, all the USB ports and have reset to default settings, still getting the same answer

Does Asus have a Bios flashing utility under windows for this laptop?

Just tried clearing the CMOS by unplugging the laptop battery and cmos battery, still no luck 🙁
I can't actually get to windows on the laptop because it is in a boot loop of bluescreening with the message "ACPI BIOS ERROR" - this is the reason that I am trying to flash the bios

Did you unzip the bios? Which version are you trying to flash?

Yep, I unzipped the bios, I'm trying to flash version 208 or above because the PC is in a boot loop of bluescreening with the error-message "ACPI BIOS ERROR" so I'm trying to update the bios. The download I used is from: https/www.asus.com/uk/supportonly/S400CA/HelpDesk_BIOS/

Did you recently upgrade your laptop with any new hardware?
If possible open laptop and re-seat memory modules - wifi card and SSD, disconnect- reconnect their wires-cables, your CMOS battery might be de-pleaded

How to clear CMOS in a laptop

1.Power down your laptop. Remove the AC adapter and any other peripheral devices. Turn over the computer so that the bottom side is facing up.
Ground yourself, either by touching a piece of unpainted metal or by wearing an anti-static wrist-strap.

2.Locate the battery. This will vary depending on your laptop's model, but it is usually located on the back, near the rear of the laptop. Review your laptop's documentation to find the battery, if needed. Many newer models require that you remove the battery by releasing or holding down one or two latches, then gently pulling the battery out. Some models may instead require that you unscrew the battery from its compartment.

3.Leave the battery out of the compartment for at least 30 minutes. Do not attempt to turn on the computer and do not touch the battery within that time. Some laptops may require you leave out the battery longer to clear CMOS, others might take only 10 to 15 minutes to reset.

4.Ground yourself, then put the battery back into the laptop. Snap the battery latch into place or screw the cover back on, if necessary.
