Asus Keyboard not working (at all)

I do not have a laptop, but I saw no category for desktop computers, if I put this in the wrong area, can you put it there for me? Thanks.

I have a Asus Computer with a Samsung monitor (running on Window 8.1), I plugged the keyboard into computer and the keyboard is unresponsive. We have gotten the keyboard to work on our other computer- which is custom-built by a relative and connected to our playstation, so it's not the keyboard. We have tried to look up fixes for this, but hit a dead end. The mouse is also not showing up when plugged.

We recently did have a power surge, but the monitor is showing the lock screen, so I don't know if that's the problem. The keyboard and mouse stopped working after a game he(my brother) was playing crashed. If you need any more information just ask, and he'd really like to be able to use the computer.

try clearing the cmos as found that to work sometimes to kickstart a stubborn system.
