ASUS laptop screen won't display anything

So I have an ASUS G73SW and just this morning when I tried to start it up, the screen wouldn't load. Everything else works fine I think, I could hear the windows startup sound being played but nothing is displayed on the monitor. I have tried connecting it to my tv via hdmi but to no avail. Does anyone have any solutions? Also, prior to this, my laptop would occasionally shut down by itself it it falls asleep or enters hibernation.

Nevermind, I fixed it. I just took the battery out and held the power button down for about a minute and then put the battery back in and it turned on fine.
