Asus laptop won't turn on

Hi,
I have an Asus X551M laptop.
A few weeks ago, I could only boot it when it was charging.
Now I can't boot it at all. The battery+power LED turn on when I plug the charger, but the device won't turn on - the fans won't start, no boot sound, no image.
I tried connecting it to an external display but there was no signal.
I also tried to open it, take out the battery, then hold power for 1 minute, put the battery back and hold/press power again.
Also tried to boot without the battery. When I connected the charger (without the battery) the battery LED was off, and the power LED was on as usual.

Anyone has a solution to offer?

It sounds a lot like your motherboard is shot to me.

Is there anything I can do about it? It's out of warranty

You said when it is plugged in, without the battery, you get the power light. Does it show any other signs of life then?

Yeah I get the power light but not the battery charging light

No, I don't mean lights. I mean sounds inside. Fan, hard drive, etc. anything make any signs that it is trying to run?
