Solved! Asus Realtek audio driver problem

Hi.
I have a asus ROG G503VM, that has one 4pole 3.5mm combo jack. I have been using a combo to mic and sound adapter for a few years now. Everything worked fine until a few days back.
I have reinstalled my Windows 10 Home installation and the system started not using my 3.5mm external mic. It instead uses the integrated microphone wich is pretty s**t.
I have tried installing the recommended drivers by asus, that didn't help.
I have tested my setup on a different pc with combo jack and everything works.
So the problem can only be in software.
Any ideas how to fix this?

yes, it does

is the mic shown in the windows "sounds" devices?
right click on the taskbar speaker icon and click on sounds
click on tab recording, set the mic you wanna use to default recording device
