ASUS ROG GL552VW-CN471TIcon click broken

I recently convinced my friend to buy this laptop, the ASUS ROG GL552VW-CN471T. A very good gaming laptop for playing games like LoL and Guildwars2. I installed steam, LoL and Guildwars 2 for him, along with removing some non-essential bloatware, namely recording programs and things he doesn't need. However He contacted me earlier today saying all of his icons have become unclickable. He can still enter Taskmanager, but his background is black aswell. I've included an image.

Does anyone know what might be going on?

It can be a common problem with Windows 10 unfortunately. Here are some troubleshooting steps that he can try.
- Start by running System Restore if he can still access control panel or open application inside inside Windows.
- Here's how to run System Restore: http/windows.microsoft.com/en-ph/windows-10/windows-10-recovery-options
- If System Restore will result at the same problem after restore it to a date before even the changes was made I would suggest to reinstall Windows 10.

Thanks! I'll try these things when I get back to him. I'll let you know how it went. Any idea what can be the cause of this? Chance?
