Hi, i'm new to the site and was hoping someone can give me some in-site on my situation. I just purchased a asus gl702vs laptop recently and the cpu is heating up to levels I don't think is very safe long term, I don't even play anything really serious, just some overwatch mostly and my max cpu temps spiked to 97C. I've fixed the issue by turning off the turbo boost which lowered temps quite a bit(why should i have to lower system performance to compensate for poor heat management?). I was considering returning this for https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GE72MVR-7RG-Apache-Pro.html#hero-overview which i've read has better cooling and it has identical specs to my asus laptop. So to sum up my question is,

1. is this temp a bit ridiculously? 97C? this is normal?
2. has anyone have experience with msi laptops? are they good for heat management?
3. also my asus has gsync and the msi laptop does not, is this worth it to keep asus?
4. i do like my laptop, is turbo boost a big increase or should i just leave it off and keep my laptop?

thank you, please give some feedback!

97 is very high for a laptop. I would return the laptop and as if they can give you a replacement if you like the asus laptop. As for msi, they are very good for the price you pay for. The thin laptops tend to be hotter than the asus counterparts. The desktop replacements and notebooks on the other hand are good.

i guess asus made better laptop, but i see some test about g702, and the temperature reach that high, around 90, i guess that caused by thin body that make the cooling bad, because it have less space, i guess you better get another laptop, because g702 cooling is bad
