Solved! Asus Zenbook shuts off when picked up or moved during high CPU temps

Laptop in question is the Asus Zenbook UX305UA, 2-3 years of use.

More and more frequently, it's been shutting off randomly. When trying to reproduce the problem, I've found that it typically happens when BOTH the laptop is moving/picked up and the cpu temp is high. Pretty much always when both are happening, not just one or the other.

The CPU temps go up to around 60 C. Obviously not great, but I don't think that's high enough to explain why the laptop is failing.

Some other notes:

• This happens regardless of power. Same behavior with low battery or full battery; same behavior plugged in or not.
• When it shuts off, it immediately turns back on and tries to boot back up, like an appliance during a power surge
• I've checked the connectors between the battery and the board of the laptop itself... they all seem fine. Nothing loose that I can see.
• Cleaning the dust out did not help
• The fan does spin as normal

Any ideas? Let me know if there's any more information I should give.

check if the RAM and SSD is still tightly connected

the battery connector could be broken (e. g. a not well soldered pin on the motherboard)
the battery could be faulty
