AT&T Shelling Out Up To $625 For IPhones?

this is all speculation and most of what was written was speculation..with very few facts.

I find it funny how people today complain about high gas prices and rising mortgage costs, yet are willing to throw out $80-$140/month on just a cellphone plan.

I would rather give Apple my $525 and pay AT&T just $10/month. Service providers have become so greedy in this country that it is no longer a joke. Plans are getting grossly overpriced, and $39/month for basic voice doesn't even give you any decent talktime any more.

Back in the day, you could buy plans for $19, yet there was a significantly smaller user base than today. With millions more subscribers using the same infrastructure, it would make sense to reduce monthly pricing, not increase them.

If being in business means you have to be greedy, then capitalism has become a failure.

Just my $0.02

Capitalism is all about greed. When your customer is willing to pay $100 a month, why charge them less? They won't go down till people aren't willing to pay anymore.

Try having a cell phone in Canada. No data plan and limited daytime minutes with weekends and evenings will hit you $70 a month and up. C'mon. Stop complaining: you guys are getting better options than we are at a similar price point to our 'basic' service. You don't like it, don't pay it... no one _needs_ an iPhone.
