Is "Super Breakout" just Breakout with a new name, or are the games
actually different?

Thanks.

So I definitely need both then? I have Super, and I saw Breakout at the
thrift store the other day but sadly I didn't pick it up and it was
gone today ....

There are many more game variations in Super Breakout.

Oh, I don't know about that. Breakout's failing was
the limit of only two walls of bricks. But it offered
many variations Super lacks: 3 & 4 player games,
Break-Thru, timed games, invisible bricks, catch,
and steerable.

Super Breakout gives infinite walls and multi-ball
play. Also progressive walls, which is cool. And
cool sounds.

Wouldn't most people who collect video games already have these by now?
(laughs)

You forgot:

Daily Double
Cavity Search
Prog Rock

Also, if you hold down the buttons on both paddles and then get someone to
stab you in the face, you'll be in pain.

Welp, i'm sure he got sidetracked after buying 2 or 3 N64s and Genesi a
week. Because, you definitely need at least 12 N64s and maybe 10-15
Genesis units.

(Just to be sure)

(and we all know the 2600 is mostly only good for M-Network games,
anyway)

Super Breakout has more game variations. All Breakout has is Breakout,
Catch Breakout (where you can catch the ball on the paddle and use the
fire button to shoot the ball back up towards the bricks), Breakthru
(the ball goes through the bricks until it hits the playfield's top
wall), and Catch Breakthru. Super Breakout has Breakout, Cavity
Breakout, Double Breakout, Progressive Breakout, and Children's
Breakout (the ball doesn't go fast when it hits the blue bricks, and
the paddle doesn't shrink in size when the ball hits the playfield's
top wall).

Ball physics are also slightly different between both games. And
finally, Super Breakout has better graphics and sound effects. The
original Breakout on the 2600 looks like the version of Breakout that
was included on the Video Pinball standalone home console.

If I had to choose one, I'd go with Super Breakout.

Dude, I bought most of those when they were $2 - 4 each. Like one time
I walked in, and sitting on one of the "carts" they wheel out
periodically were two (bare bones) sega Genesis II systems... priced at
$2 each. I couldn't resist. And Super Nintendo units used to go for $4,
bare, so yeah I snapped up a LOT of these systems.

Then, they started raising the prices of the systems to $15 - BARE.
Now, they price the systems at $20 no matter HOW much stuff it comes
with. A Super Nintendo is $20, period. Bare, or with cord and
controllers, it's $20. I bought a Super NES for $25 once, but it was
only because it was the small, scaled down model and I didn't have one
of those, nor had I seen one before... I recently bought a complete
VECTREX system complete with controllers and a big sack of games (some
rare) and overlays.... all for only $20.

A while back, they had two Nintendo 64's, complete, for $30 each. After
they sat there for a few weeks (in the glass case..), they lowered the
price to $15 each, and I bought them just because they had the
expansion packs. Now the Nintendo 64 is a system that I pretty much
dislike, so I probably won't buy any others unless it is like an atomic
purple or something.
