cant speak for the others but i personally own ath-m50s and they are great. i've had them for a few years now so can honestly tell you what i think.
even though they are made of plastic its definitely a very hard solid kind and they arent prone to falling apart. i've carried mine around in a shoulder bag for years without issue. i do take my time to fold them up and wrap the cable up and i dont go smashing them against objects but then again why would you be purposefully abusing things you want to last? the cable is also very thick which make them very durable and not prone to breaking.
they sound great for movies, games and music. mine are mostly for music including almost all genres except country and classical. they have hard hitting bass without being too bass centric and muddling out everything else. even highs and mids sound good and clear. honestly i havent found anything which made me unhappy in terms of sound quality. i've even had to give up listening to crappy low bit-quality streams because i can hear the distortion now (when on regular headphones i couldnt). i needed to listen to songs i've owned for years again because they sounded so much better and different. who would have known i could be missing so much.
i've found them to be comfortable however not all head sizes and ear sizes work with all headphones. thats a known fact. the only issue is that your ears sweat when wearing them which is due to the closed design (all closed designs have this issue). open designs let air in but arent sound isolating. i've used them at high volumes rocking out to some pretty hard bass drops in an office with cubicles and not one person was disturbed. most headphones have slight sound leakage and this is no exception however its definitely adequate if you dont want to disturb others.
they work with a myriad of devices including smartphones, laptops, mp3 players, computers, amped receivers, etcetera. most high end headphones might have trouble being powered by portable devices but these i can say do not. in case you care the portable devices i use are an ipod classic and a droid incredible. it works flawlessly with them at good high volumes.
for $99 (you find them sometimes as new but open box on ebay at that price) you cant go wrong. not considering their msrp is double that. i think i paid $160 for mine and i'd do it again.
they fold up... not sure if you can get more portable than that considering they are full sized studio headphones. the cable is a bit long but can come in handy for certain situations (like plugging it into your laptop which is hooked up to the as a display tv watching movies in a hotel room).
the only complaint i have is that after years of daily use (read: mostly its from sweating on them) the pads to start getting a bit hard and will eventually start to crack. this is common on many leather/pleather headphone pads. the good news is that replacement pads are pretty cheap. honestly i dont feel its a big deal since i would have to deal with this on most headphones and i did get several years of daily use out of them.
