Awesome, so now you can get caught on the bottom and drown, or adccidentally retract the pool when people are in it. I suppose it is perfect if you're a Russian oil Czar and need to frequently and "accidentally" eliminate people.

what this does is takes a feature (a pool) normally only available on a yacht costing 10's of millions, and puts it on a yacht that looking at the size of it should be available for closer to 1 million, putting it in easy reach of a lot more people than the 10+ million yacht

plus, it looks very very cool

Good name but does anyone else think that this thing should be called the cylon yaht instead of atreides. It sure looks alot like a cylon ship...

That boat is killer!

The pool looks far to shallow...

Why not have it extract from the bottom of the yacht as a flat panel (1-2foot thick) then when it is fully extended lower the bottom of the pool to say 5-8 foot. Also, there is no reason why this can not be almost solid, just leave enough room for the water to seep in, eliminating sharks.

Are people seriously so afraid of sea life that they need to have a (mostly ineffective) barrier? You're basically just swimming in the ocean with a few bars around you. Unless this is rated to stop sharks its useless and even then unless you're chumming the waters sharks aren't really particularly dangerous.

A few things I'd like to point out:

*From the photos It looks as if the frame and floor are fairly solid. If there was a handrail of sorts this would be a shark deterrent. note not shark-proof.

*As stated earlier, this was designed to put a yacht with a pool into the budget of lower tier of the rich & famous. 1M instead of 10M is enough to vastly improve sales.

*I'd think there would be a safety system in place to prevent accidental death and dismemberment from the unit closing. Even if there wasn't one in place the whole process would take several minutes.

[citation][nom]kingnoobe[/nom]Nood1-could be fun for some not so fun for others. Don't use when waves are really bad. Don't really see much of a problem on that one.2-That could be a problem but I'm sure those would have to be some pretty strong waves to break the pool. 3-Well a liner of some type could at least help, either way it's no worse then swimming without it. 4-Nobody can fix stupidity, and I doubt this thing closes really fast.[/citation]

Well most yachts with pools have the pool on the yacht itself so sharks aren't an issue, but if you're swimming somewhere out in the open then yeah I guess this "pool" is safer.

You'd be surprised how stupid some people can be! I imagine it would "know" when people are in the pool. Otherwise that could lead to some big law suits (unfortunately...)

I wonder how many times the designer hit the eject button on his CDROM drive before he said "Heeeeeeyyyyyy..."

if they could make the floor out of a strong potous material, and maybe give it retractable railings, shark infested water is definitely a possibility

[citation][nom]Kaiser_25[/nom]freikin tight, but my god how many hungry people could you feed with this things sure to be outrageous price tag?[/citation]
Prolly about as many as U could feed with the price of a tank.
