Audio not working

Trying to connect an old Phillips DVD/ home theater unit to a new LG - 49" Class (48.5" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - HDTV

Tried HDMI cable and red/white audio in/out cables but no sound

Without model numbers can't be exact.
Likely your TV has optical audio output. If the HTS doesn't have optical in then you can use a DAC like this one

to convert to an analog output that can be used with the HTS.
