If everybody refused to visit countries where their governments did silly or stupid things, nobody would go anywhere. That applies to US(A) too. Back off on our mates from down under. You would be hard pressed to find better people.

Nobody is talking about the average person in Australia, they`re talking about the government.

While I don`t agree with the ruling I also don`t see it restricting my travel. I`m sure anyone that normally carries adult content with them can do without for a week or two...

Sorry about that, just read about it.
They didn't ban women with small breasts from the country (which is the easy misinterpretation of your comment).

They apparently passed a pretty vague law about the depiction of women who have what appears to be an under developed body.
This resulted in women with less than A cup breasts pictured in adult magazines being banned.
If you are over 18, but have a young looking body, and upload an image of yourself to the internet you could be arrested.

I think a group of people in the Australian government are a bit obsessed with this whole porn thing.
An image or video of anything that is legal should be legal to own.

It's crazy that in these relatively enlightened times these kind of restrictive laws, all over the western world, are being passed.

i think its quite easy to put a partition that is not native to an os, and or use partitioning software to unmount and hide it, I doubt they have the proper tools nor the time to try and setup that partition and then find themselves not having the privilege or rights to access

cant really search something you cant see :p

and have that particular OS say linux on a cd or thumbdrive to boot :p

Heck, I couldn't leave my house if I refused to go anywhere a silly law existed.

so...are women with underdeveloped bodies forbidden to have sex too? I mean if you take their policy logically one step further, then such a woman would be guilty of child prostitution.

What you have to remember is that Australia is being run by religious zealots. I am an Australian national about to re-enter the country after being on holiday (using free internet at McDonalds in Dubai to type this actually). I have never heard of this, but I will know in a couple of days when I return. I personally like freedom of expression and also believe that censorship is for idiots, but also child porn and beastiality is just plain absusive and should be stopped. This solution (if true) seems like using a nuclear missile to swat a fly tho... typical for Australia.

I am an Aussi myself but prefer the naked beaches. What's wrong with that (as long as the girls lie on their back)?

No they wouldn't, you can't take logic that far because you're going from simple classification laws to laws on sexual restrictions. Women who appear under 18 are still not under 18 and can therefore have sex legally.

[citation][nom]bogcotton[/nom]An image or video of anything that is legal should be legal to own.[/citation]
Except that it's not legal. The issue is that our classification laws have a very broad definition of child pornography and this includes child depiction. Therefore if a woman with small breasts does not appear under 18 it's fine, but if she has her hair in pigtails and sits on a bed with a teddy bear then it's child depiction and falls under the even broader catch-all category of Refused Classification. RC material is mostly legal to own but illegal to distribute. Child depiction is in the small subset of RC which is not legal to own (as far as I know).

That said, the small breasts thing was sensationalised by the Australian Sex Party and caused them to lose a good deal of credibility. Having small breasts does not immediately ban you from anything, nor does it immediately mean you're breaking the law if you take off your clothes. Child depiction is an extremely grey area. What is and what isn't child depiction is quite subjective.

[citation][nom]rocc[/nom]result of ACTA?[/citation]
ACTA has nothing to do with Australian law. That's an issue Americans should be worried about.

me thinks that if I go to the land down under, I'll be sure to pack a 1TB HDD plumb full with the worst possible looking 55yo women and men all naked and having sex and let them look at that all they want. :)

Solution : truecrypt http://www.truecrypt.org/ it is free and you are not required to give up the password

Back up your entire hard drive and keep the backup at home

on the storage you are taking with you, perform whole disk encryption

use at least a 20 character long password it can even be a simple statement or saying that you can remember. because of the characteristics of truecrypt, each attempt of a brute force requires a large portion of the file to be read before the key provided can be seen as a hit or miss because of this, the brute force process is significantly slowed compared to just trying to break a hash

so encrypt and answer no. No government has the time or resources to try to break a high level encryption in order to see if you were lying about having porn or not unless it is of national security.

And if you really feel like being a jerk, you can also keep your porn in a encrypted volume then for OS, have that partition unencrypted then set your background as a image of some nasty stuff thats not porn. Have a lot of people load up a package of really nasty non porn images then when the drives are checked for porn, the workers will be constantly grossed out and will eventually protest being required to look at peoples storage.
