Automatic number sequence in excel

how to generate Automatic number sequence in excel?

if i have 5 rows with column name "Serial No" like this

S Number
1
2
3
4
5

If i insert 1 row between Serial Number 3 and 4 then i want excel to generate auto number sequence and then i should have serial number 1 to 6 like this

I think excel does it automatically. Doesn't it?

You just drag the columns and tell excel to fill the series!

i have tried but after adding rows there is no auto generate numbering.

You just have to drag the column once again with the empty blocks as well. That should fill it up.
