I am using the ASUS Xonar DGX sound card: http/www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132052
and a Onkyo TX-SR500: http/www.onkyousa.com/Products/model.php?m=TX-SR500&class=Receiver
I am attempting to get surround sound working through these devices. I have my sound system plugged into the sound card through an optical cable. This sound system works with a coaxial output from my tv (by connecting HDMI from graphics card to tv and coax from tv to sound system) but for whatever reason, refuses to work with this optical cable. I have the drivers installed for the sound card. When I look in Playback Devices in sound settings, while running music, S/PDIF Pass-through Device indicates that sound is running through it. But the sound system produces no sound. It is set as default device. I can confirm the sound card is working by testing the green auxiliary jack with my headphones. Please help and thank you.
