Avi or mpeg4?

Too many variables... It depends on the resolution, bit rate, and compression used, etc.

The question should probably be, what do you want to do with the file? In my experience, mpeg's are more software friendly than avi's.

u may need a editing tool to help u, there are many in google

I am just trying to get the best resolution settings so that the picture looks good on youtube. I am using final cut software.
