AW M17x Configuration

Hi...
My respects to all the masters...

I am a MBBS fresh grad from India... Having completed the 5n half yr of extensive studies , i m planning to buy an AW M17x... I will be using it mainly for gaming and a little of video encoding.... I want it to be future proof for the next 3-4 yrs... I have 2 options:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-920XM Processor Extreme(2.00GHz, 8MB Cache)
8GB Dual-channel 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 4GB)
1GB GDDR5 ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5870

OR

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-820QM Processor(1.73GHz, 8MB Cache)
8GB Dual-channel 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM
CrossFireX(TM) Dual 1GB GDDR5 ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5870

The 920xm comfig costs me around 1000$ extra...
Which one should i go for....
I want to be able to play all the incoming games in the next 3-4 yrs....

Also the manufacture provides 1200p with CCFL OR RGB LED... How do i know which model he ships me ...
And are there any model upgrades coming soon....

If you have the money, you might as well go for the 920. Like you said, it will essentially future proof you against just about anything to come out in the next 2-3 years. Then again, the only difference between the two chips are the clock speed. It is up to you if you want to pay the additional grand for a few hundred MHz.

The problem with that is that he is trading the better CPU for only a single GPU. The 2nd config, while having a slightly weaker CPU, has a better GPU config. For gaming, that will be the deciding factor. More games are being configured to support multi-GPU setups so having the dual cards will be better than having the 920XM. My vote is for the Crossfire setup.

For the most part unless you are into some serious Crossfire is probably processing overkill, but if you can afford it you shouldn't ahve to worry about upgrading for well, a very long time.

Well Thanks everyone... Specially lost and wandering....
Well I think I will go for the i7 820qm and the crossfirex ati5870's...

Here is my config...

Intel i7 820qm
8GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM
1TB RAID 0 (500 X 2)
1200p RGB LED
BR COMBO
DUAL ATI 5870 CROSSFIREX

What do u think...

Well I churned out it at a price equivalent to about 3500 USD with a 4yr Premium Service...
