This all depends on the area you live in. There are always more channels available on basic cable compared to over the air. It just depends what you like to watch.

If you really need to know the exact count just figure out who your cable provider is and check out the websites.

My area for example, they have no FTA channels. If you don't pay for basic cable, you get nada when it comes to the TV. Fortunately, there are more than a few websites that make such a 'hassle' void by being able to watch your own streaming shows on one of many websites, some free of charge and others requiring membership not to mention alot of stations like A&E, Sci-Fi and others will usually have there shows available to be watched online through there site also.
