batch reduce image size for emailing

I have a bunch of pics that I need to send by gmail, but they are too heavy.
How can I reduce their size to be appropriate for emailing?
I want to send the actual files, not links.
I want to do the conversion as a batch, not one by one.

Zip or rar your file and upload them to wetransfer. Then send them to the person who needs it.

Compression does not work very well on already compressed files.

If you want to shrink and re-save copies of the images you can use something like IrfanView's batch conversion tool(File -> Batch Conversion/Rename). You can then select the images you want to convert select a size, Check Use advanced options(for bulk resize...). Select the new size or a percentage value of the original image size. Make sure the image type is JPG and an output folder and Start Batch.

The files are resized to 50% of the original dimensions(with resample for better quality). The output is JPG 80% quality.

The input files are 38.5 megabytes while the output files are 3.46 megabytes. Using the original files with Winrar at its best compression setting I got 37.8 megabytes(compressed files just do not compress that much more).

I do agree with others that you could use something like Google Drive, Onedrive, drop box, ect to host a rather large collection of files and without the images being made smaller like that would with the above method. What you do will depend on your intended used of these images after sending.

I see you must send as attachments. Irfanview is one of the faster ways to mass convert images(resize or apply basic filters, save and if required rename). It can even make web galleries.
