Battery problem with my Lenovo G50-70

I'm having battery issues with my laptop. First of all my laptop turns on when I unplug the battery but doesn't turn on when the battery is plugged and power cable is connected. I've tried plugging the battery while laptop is running but it turned off after 5 seconds. About the LEDs; charging indicator next to the AC input is always off, battery led is orange blinking when I try to turn laptop on with battery plugged. I'm not sure wether is this a battery or circuit issue but I'll order new backup battery soon. What do you think?
