Just bought a latitude 5511 yesterday and upon taking it home I discovered that the os Installed is windows 10 from 2019 so I tried updating it but in the process the battery went from 90% to 6% in an instant and then went off on its own then I was thinking that I got scammed so I ran a battery check using the BIOS and it said the battery was made just 3 weeks ago and also it was "excellent " and I know that impossible so my first thoughts were the laptop has been tampered with or the battery is dead so I turned it off but I woke up the next day to turn it on again and it was 0% and I decided to use it at 0% and it lasted over 2 hours before I shut it down so I'm really confused if the battery is dead or is it a software issue . Please help 🥲

Might just need calibration, especially if it's new or has been sitting for a while. Let it charge all the way, then discharge all the way. If you want to confirm the actual age of the battery, you can take the bottom off the laptop and see if there is a date code printed on the battery. You'll also be able to see if it's a Dell battery or an aftermarket one, though I've had fine experiences with aftermarket batteries for Dell laptops myself.
A tip for battery longevity: keep the percentage between around 30% to 80%. Going closer to the extremes (0% and 100%) causes the voltage to drop/rise, and over time this puts wear on the battery. It being a Latitude, there should even be a setting in the BIOS to specify charge thresholds. My own laptop is set to charge below 50% and stop at 60%.
