BEST 60 or 55 inch HDTV

I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to computer monitors, but I have recently been struck dumb when trying to compare HDTV's. The main problem is my family only wants to buy one from Bestbuy http/www.bestbuy.com
due to the fact that they offer to take your old TV away. We have a 300lb+, 10 year old TV... I would like to stay under (or around) $1000. As stated, either a 55 or 60 inch would be ideal.

Best Buy carries Panasonic, LG, and Samsung plasma TVs. Choose the one you like best for whatever reason. 50-60" will fit your wallet just fine maybe with room to spare. Plasma will give you a better picture that LED lit LCD in most situations.
