I apologize in advance if this question has been asked a million times before, I did do a quick search, but did not find anything current.
I have a new computer coming in the next couple of days, and I want to know what you all think are the essential apps to load on it. I plan on stripping off any bloatware I find out of the box, and my old standby app list has probably gotten a little stale.
I am looking for suggestions on:
Security (I used to always add AVG, Spybot, Adaware, and rely on my router for firewall protection but I know there is probably a better combination these days)
Productivity (I have used Open Office in the past, but I see that LibreOffice is becoming quite popular)
Utility (vlc, uTorrent, Gimp, Handbrake, etc.)
Anything else that you use as a standard that you might want to suggest.
Thanks in advance for your feedback
