Best Audio From Android Box to AVR

I currently have my Android box (Netflix, Kodi etc) connected to my TV thru HDMI and then digital coax to my AVR (Cambridge Azur 540 R v3) because the HDMI ports on the AVR do not process audio. But is this the best solution?
The Android box also has SPDIF out so I could connect this directly to the AVR.
I also have a digital to 6 discrete analog channel converter which could be put into the mix if it would make any difference.

Count yourselves lucky if your TV passes audio from HDMI input thru SPDIF out.
You can always try that. Whether and how it will sound, only you can tell. An optical SPDIF cable is like $10.

TV doesn't have optical SPDIF out, only digital coax.

SPDIF defines the protocol. This protocol can run over coax or optical.

So my existing connection of HDMI pass thru to SPDIF should be as good as any of the options?

I don't think it will make any difference, especially for streaming content. End point of your audio will always pass thru SPDIF, whether Box->TV->Receiver, or Box->Receiver
