The DT 770 Pros would be a great choice for gaming and music because of their wide soundstage despite it being a closed headphone. I would try and get the 80ohm set and plug it in and see if it's loud enough for you. If it isn't then you would need to look into an amp.

btw "gaming" headsets are a rip off. The sound and build quality you would get with a nice pair of headphones such as the DT 770 Pro will blow away any gaming headsets in the same price range.

If you're into competitive play where positional queues are key you could look into the Audio Techinca ATH-AD700X

I do game a lot but only league and stuff so soundwhoring isnt really needed mainly so i can get 100% out of the movies i watch and would an amp be needed?
