best CPU for molecular modelling and rendering

May I know which CPU will be best suited for my molecular modelling/rendering applications of bioinformatics? I will be using the machines solely for research; no gaming at all......

Then you should be looking at the best CPU you can afford and just use onboard video. The Intel CPUs are far superior for this use, as opposed to gaming. It really depends on your budget. I would suggest a high end Haswell like the i7-4770 or if you really have some extra money an Ivy Bridge E 2011 socket CPU.

A desktop would be far superior to a laptop for this use though.
