Best gaming laptop for under 650$?

Hi, sorry for my bad English, I speak French.
A friend of mine is looking for a new laptop because he broke the one he had. His budget is 650$.
He can buy it on one of these sites:
newegg.ca
ncix.ca
futureshop.ca
bestbuy.ca
cosco.ca
(Canadian websites only, these are the ones I know, there might me others)
The screen must be 14" or more.
He doesn't need a touchscreen.
He doesn't need an optic drive.
He doesn't need a backlit keyboard.
He wants to play game with his laptop.

-i5-4210u (not too bad, enough to play games and do homework/internet surfing)
-8gb of ram (plenty)
-840m (good enough to play everygame for now, I thing)
-No touchscreen/backlit keyboard/optic drive.

Is this laptop good for the price? What are its pros and cons? Do you know any better laptop for gaming for this price? Thanks!

Good graphics card, decent processor, 8GB RAM, 14", 500GB HDD (sadly no SSD, cant really get an SSD in a laptop for $650)

Well, this is exactly the one I found! The only problem with this laptop is that I can't find any review on it, so I don't know if it is solid/wellbuild, if the touchpad/keyboard are good, etc...
There is an empty spot for the optic drive, I guess he can install an SSD there later?

tough, you dont really want to be cracking open a laptop, youll need experience to do so, but I think a HDD should be fine.
