Hi I was reading different reviews on internet for tha last 3 hors and I am so confused. I am an architect and I will be using the laptop for 3Ds Max modeling.static modeling. No video making but complex scenes with lots of lights and materials which need to be rendered in huge dimensions. Photoshop for composing my presentation tables,A1 and A0 size with lots of layers. Autocad 3D. I prefer to buy an HP since I was very satisfied with the other 2 old HPs I had. My budget is around 550 $,I know it's not enough but this is what I can afford for now. which parameters should I consider for CPU and graphic card and RAM? I have several external disks and don't need the internal disk space to store files. should I choose core...quad...intel....?

You are best off with an Intel I5 laptop. Lenovo is good and my entire family uses the thinkpads series laptops. This isn't a thinkpad, but I'd recommend it for the price.

If you have to have HP, go with the HP ENVY dv4-5211nr Notebook PC as it is on sale for $500 right now. By doing so, you are going with an I3 instead of an I5, which is a pretty decent performance hit for brand preference. Personally, I would go with the Lenovo.

I will gladly second this recommendation. I love my Y500, it's easily the best laptop I've ever had. And I've had Dell, HP, Toshiba, and Gateway.
