I stay away from lynksys , support runs ut quick . Asus make great routers and they support with FW upgrades for years , my Asus RT-16 is still supported , my linksys bought at the same time ran out of support 3 years ago . Go with Asus RT =66-N great router , cover the whole house with a strong signal . rt56 53 and 52 are in your price range maybe the rt 65n.

The two routers I have and which work great are Linksys WMP600N and Asus N53 - the PCI slots are different so choose according to the PCI slot that you have available.

PCI slot , on a router ? I don't understand .

Sorry! You are correct! I was thinking wireless cards. Regarding routers I stick with Linksys. My current router is Linksys E1550. The signal goes through 4 drywalls and 30 feet away on two different floors.

Linksys is Cisco!

And, Linksys has a great app named "Cisco Connect" that I use once in a while to easily connect other computers to my Linksys router. Over the past10+ years I have had zero problems with Linksys routers! That's why I am absolutely sold on Linksys!

10 - 20 years ago I'd agree , today , or last 5 years linksys sucks , support runs out quick , plus don't like the privacy crap they have pulled . Your money your choice . Asus you have a good choice of custom FW , lots more options . I've run Netgear n6250 wrt2700 , dlink , linksys , the Asus is the only router that I've kept the others get sold within 3 months .http://

What do you need from a router ? 2 bands , speed of your clients , lots of factors to consider . So far I've tried AC but find at the distances and obstacles in my house the N-66 is about as good as it gets . Try the AC 56 or the N 56 /65 they all have lots of different FW available depending on your needs . And you cannot brick these routers updating FW I've tried , almost impossible .
