Best smartphone to use as mobile hotspot?

Good day folks!

I am looking for a smart phone to use as a mobile hotspot in UK, and during my trips abroad. My requirements for this are simple:

-The phone should be as small as possible & with a long battery life. (Maybe running on android>not, however this does not matter as much)
-It should be a good hotspot for sharing 3g connection with my secondary devices such as my Tablet and Laptop.
-It does not have to be top of the line.
-If it is close to indestructible, all the better 😀 (Being pretty is not something I need)

Any suggestions folks?

2. shares pretty well (and rooting will help even further)
3. not top of the line but not bottom either
