I am looking for speakers, to mostly music listening (genre is metal, if it matters), since my Creative Inspire T3100 2.1, are now basically dead, after some good years with them.

What should I be looking in to?
I got recommended the Mackie CR4, are they good for music listening, since they are monitors and now speakers? Also, they are 2.0, will I notice a difference without a sub?

Thanks!

Monitor speakers are usually brighter than music speakers. That allows someone mixing music to hear more detail but can be fatiguing. Mastering speakers are usually high end audiophile speakers which have great detail without brightness.

The bass box for the T3100 is really a woofer not a subwoofer. You will probably want a subwoofer down the road but should be OK for now.
