I'm looking for a headset that's not over the 100$ price range but still is decent! I'm not very experienced headphones or headsets since the "best" I've ever had were razer krakens. I don't mind if it has a microphone but if it does that would be amazing!

Do you believe it would be worth the extra 30 dollars for the Cloud 2? I've been told that all it adds really is a USB cord. Thanks for the suggestions! I'm looking forward to purchasing one of these.

the hxc2 is more or less the same thing with a few different options.. slightly different microphone and it includes a usb cable with onboard virtual surround soundcard (the hxc1 you would plug into your pc.. and if it supports virtual you can use that, otherwise a soundcard or razers software to do it would be needed). if you do not care about virtual or already have software for it.. its a moot point going for the hxc2.

What's your opinion on the ATH-M40x? It's on sale right now and looks very attractive!

i havent heard the m40 myself (i have heard the m30 and own the m50) but my understanding is that it has less bass but more midrange than the m50 making it a bit more neutral than the m50 overall. i've heard it said that the m50 sounds better in terms of quality but is bigger on the low end.

as for what i think about the m30 vs m50.. sound quality is similar but better on the m50 overall. build quality on the m30 feels cheap and the earcups are not very deep compared with the m50 which is built like a tank.

what are they on sale for? on ebay you should be able to find a set of m50s for just a bit over $100. just be aware, they arent the best for gaming due to small soundstage. if you want bigger soundstage go with one of the other cans i mentioned earlier.
