Best Video Editing Software for Current Hardware?

I bought a computer from a gamer, thinking it would run premiere pro like a charm. Then I learned the Adobe suite's do best with Intel chips; editing is unbearably laggy.

What would be the best video editing software for my current build?

My needs: I am shooting sketch comedy videos 10 min or less, with simple text titles and minor graphic animation.

Asus M5A97 AM3+ motherboard
AMD Phenom 2 x4 965 @ 3.4ghz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 1gb ddr5
8gb ddr3 G. Skill
1 tb western digital

Apparently Sony Vegas has had problems with the GTX 560 in particular.

Any video editing programs, with light effects tool, that might deliver HD video?

What version of Premiere Pro are you using? If you are using a late enough version, is the Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA) enabled?
To check:
Open a project
Click on Project
Click on Project Settings
If you see Mercury Playback Engine software only then your video card is not recognized as a card that will use CUDA. However, there may be a work around for this from VideoGuys: http/www.studio1productions.com/Articles/AfterEffects.htm
I have noticed a huge difference in rendering times when I use the GPU enabled rendering vs the software only (desktop has GPU rendering while my laptop does not).

Corel Video Studio Pro X5 might do the job for you. Looking at the tech specs it supports an AMD processor.
