Well it seems to be so that we are stuck with dx9 for severals years... Next Xbox is released 2012 and come to ful production 2013? Then it will take some time until it is more popular than Xbox360...
We are so much stuck to multiplatform curse, that it is hard to see any way to get rid of it.
But I am sure, that Scyrim does allow huge amount of player made graphical upgrades, so It will be looking "good enough" after some years of development.
So it is better hope that gameplay and story are good! Not impossible to achieve even console backround does hinder allso in that part of the game.

I want the game, but 150 bucks for collectors ed? I don't recall exactly what I paid for the collectors of oblivion .... but a lot less .. granted that featured a coin instead of a big plastic thing ..... but everything else is the same. That pvc thing can't possibly cost 70-90 bucks?

I prefer Steam because it's more convenient. But for Skyrim, the physical media version is probably better because that tends to be more mod friendly. $150 for a plastic toy and a printed map is just ridiculous though.

I've got the collectors edition as physical thing, and I've got the goty edition on steam - and I can't honestly say I've noticed any difference with regards to .... well anything.
