i got a 1.2m ku dish on a pansat 2500a dvb reciver
unless i am wrong, to do a blind search or blind scan on the 2500a i need to
know transponder information before it can do any searching.
With what reciever can i point my dish at a sat and not knowing any info at
all, search for all programs coming from that sat?

That one will do just fine. Create a new satellite and use smart
search on it.
It is not as intuitive as you would hope, but hey.
The funny thing here is, in the hacked firmware they changed it to
blind scan in the menu, it is easier to find!!

I cleared out all channels and transponers, started with just a list of
satellite names and locations.
I aim the dish and do smart search, It then starts searching and then is
done after 2 seconds and says 0 transponders found. Then i attempt to do the
search again and it seemes to work. weird.....

if you have multiple lnbs and are using a switch then blind search may cause
odd results like no transponders founded (gotta love that message) or not a
full list of transponders. either disconnect the switch (with the power
off) plug in the cable from the lnb directly to the receiver and do a search
for each lnb that way or try turning disecq off for all lnbs except the one
you're scanning. I've found that turning the unit off and back on after 15
seconds is needed for the change to take place.

Blind search should find all the transponders for you and then search for
channels on those transponders. When you do blind search of course you have
to select the correct satelite and scan each sat.

You need to set the LO to 5150 for C band, 10750 for KU and 11250 for
DBS. That will cure that.
Oh wait, sometimes I have to start it a second time but it worked for
you now, right?

Did it put all active tp's back in the list when you cleared the tp's
and did a smart search?
